A Park, A Policeman and A Pretty Girl

Date: 9th Jul 10

Location: Everyman Theatre

Presented by the Everyman Theatre

Year 10 pupils from Cleeve School in Cheltenham have teamed up with other young people from Hereford to examine the history of their own theatres.

The Everyman Theatre, once called the Opera House, has seen many different genres used by famous stage personalities over the years. Actors such as Ellen Terry, HB Irving and even Charlie Chaplin entertained audiences in Frank Matcham's beautiful Victorian auditorium.

The Everyman was in fact the first theatre o show a 'talkie' film in October 1929. Using this information, Year 10 pupils from Cleeve School in Cheltenham have created an exciting piece of performance that uses multi media and a live piano score to create a fusion of performance, colour, movement and music, representational rather than reproduction. Bringing the past into the future.
